Garden Tool Set (3-Piece) vs The 100% Recycled Bird Feeder

Overview

Both products score an impressive 92/100 ethics rating and sit in the mid-price range, making them strong contenders for ethical shoppers. The Barebones Living Garden Tool Set (3-Piece) is a durable, FSC-certified wooden-handle trio designed for hands-on gardening, backed by B Corp and 1% for the Planet certifications. The Ocean Plastic Pots 100% Recycled Bird Feeder turns ocean-bound plastic into a functional feeder, certified by the Global Recycled Standard and also contributing 1% for the Planet. One focuses on traditional gardening tools; the other on wildlife support and marine plastic reduction.

Ethics diff

Although both products share the same overall ethics score, their ethical strengths differ. Barebones stands out with B Corp certification, which demands rigorous social and environmental accountability, plus FSC certification ensuring responsibly sourced wood. Ocean Plastic Pots excels in circular economy impact by using 100% recycled ocean plastic and holding Global Recycled Standard (GRS) verification. Both support 1% for the Planet, donating 1% of sales to environmental causes. The ethical choice here depends on whether you value corporate-wide accountability (Barebones) or direct plastic waste reduction (Ocean Plastic Pots).

Everyday use

For daily gardening tasks like planting, weeding, and soil work, the Barebones tools offer ergonomic wooden handles and sturdy metal heads that last season after season. They are practical for anyone maintaining a garden bed or container plants. The Ocean Plastic Bird Feeder is a set-and-forget item: hang it, fill with seed, and enjoy local birds. It requires minimal maintenance but offers a different kind of daily engagement—wildlife observation rather active gardening. If you're an active gardener, Barebones tools see constant use; if you love nature watching, the feeder is your daily companion.

Value

Both are priced at $$, meaning moderate investment. The Barebones set provides three tools (trowel, cultivator, pruner) that replace multiple single-use tools, offering good long-term value for serious gardeners. The bird feeder is a single item, so its value comes from its durability (recycled plastic resists weather) and its contribution to recycling ocean waste. For cost-per-use, Barebones likely wins if you garden frequently; the feeder is excellent for those wanting a low-effort, high-impact ethical purchase.

Bottom line

It's a tie on ethics and price, but the winner depends on your needs. Choose the Barebones Garden Tool Set if you need practical, certified-sustainable tools for active gardening. Choose the Ocean Plastic Bird Feeder if you want to support ocean cleanup and attract wildlife. As a general recommendation, the Barebones set edges ahead due to multi-tool utility and B Corp certification, but either is an excellent ethical purchase.
