In-Depth Review
A Sustainable Sanctuary for Songbirds
Nature's Way has long been a leader in the birding community, and their Natural Wood Log Feeder brings a touch of organic elegance to any backyard. Unlike plastic tube feeders that can crack and leach chemicals over time, this feeder is made from solid, naturally rot-resistant FSC-certified cedar. It is designed to mimic the natural feeding environments of nuthatches, woodpeckers, and finches.
Innovative Design Meets Durability
The feeder features an extra-large capacity, holding up to 3 quarts of seed, reducing the frequency of refills. One of its standout features is the perforated stainless steel mesh tray. This allows for excellent drainage, ensuring that seed stays dry and free from mold—a common health hazard for wild birds. The roof lifts easily on a sturdy vinyl-coated steel cable for quick filling.
| Component | Material |
|---|---|
| Body | FSC Certified Premium Cedar |
| Tray | Removable Stainless Steel Mesh |
| Hanger | Vinyl-coated Steel Cable |
| Fasteners | Rust-resistant Hardware |
Ethical Production Standards
By choosing FSC-certified wood, Nature's Way ensures that the cedar used does not contribute to deforestation or habitat destruction for the very birds the product is meant to serve. The manufacturing process focuses on minimal waste, with wood offcuts often repurposed for smaller garden accessories. The natural finish means no harmful VOCs or stains are introduced into your garden ecosystem.
"Finally, a feeder that isn't an eyesore! The cedar smells amazing and the birds took to it immediately. The mesh bottom is a lifesaver for keeping the seed fresh after a rainstorm." — Verified Buyer
Maintenance Note
While cedar is naturally rot-resistant, it will grey over time if left untreated. To maintain the original color, apply a bird-safe, water-based wood sealer once a year.
