In-Depth Review
Exquisite Craftsmanship Meeting Social Mission
This Mosaic Walnut Backgammon set is more than a board game; it is a testament to the resilience and skill of Moroccan artisans. Produced in a specialized workshop in Casablanca, this set is created by a cooperative that specifically recruits and trains individuals with physical disabilities, providing them with stable, high-wage employment in a region where the disabled community often faces significant barriers to the workforce. Each board takes approximately 12 hours to assemble, featuring intricate wood inlay techniques passed down through generations.
"Every piece tells a story of inclusion. By purchasing this set, you aren't just buying a game; you are supporting a movement that values ability over disability." — Amina, Lead Artisan
The set is constructed using locally sourced walnut wood and lemon wood, often utilizing reclaimed scraps from larger furniture production to minimize waste. The interior features a hand-painted finish and precision-cut marquetry. This is an ideal centerpiece for an empty-nester’s living room, offering a sophisticated way to engage with friends and family during evening gatherings.
Technical Specifications and Contents
The set includes everything needed for a premium tournament-style experience or a casual home game. The weight of the hand-turned checkers provides a tactile satisfaction that mass-produced plastic sets cannot replicate.
