What regulators have actually done

It leaves the garment in the wash
Studies measuring silver release from treated textiles find substantial loss over the first several wash cycles. That silver reaches wastewater plants, where it is toxic to the microbial communities doing the treatment, and ends up in sludge often spread on farmland.
