In-Depth Review
Crafting a Plastic-Free Future
Abeego was the first brand to commercialize beeswax wraps, and their DIY kit allows crafters to create their own custom food storage solutions. This kit provides the exact secret formula used in their signature wraps: a blend of beeswax, tree resin, and organic jojoba oil. By engaging in the making process, users gain a deeper appreciation for the materials and the utility of breathable food storage.
The kit includes pre-measured blocks of the wax formula and high-quality fabric scraps. Unlike cheaper alternatives, Abeego uses a specific weave of organic cotton and hemp that maximizes the wrap's lifespan. The process is simple enough for children but produces a professional-grade result that can last for over a year with proper care.
- Supports ethical beekeeping practices
- Reduces single-use plastic waste in the kitchen
- Hemp/Cotton blend for superior durability
- All ingredients are compostable at end-of-life
| Material | Source | Sustainability Factor |
|---|---|---|
| Beeswax | Western Canada | Ethical Beekeeping |
| Hemp/Cotton | Global Organic Textile Standard | Pesticide Free |
| Jojoba Oil | Desert Farms | Water Efficient |
"We believe food is alive and should be treated with respect. Our wraps let your food breathe." - Toni Desrosiers, Founder
The kit is an excellent entry point for those interested in the zero-waste movement. It combines the joy of crafting with a practical, environmental purpose. Once the wraps eventually lose their tackiness, they can be recoated using the same formula or cut up and composted, leaving no trace behind.
