In-Depth Review
Digital Innovation Meets Physical Writing
The Rocketbook Core, formerly known as the Everlast, provides a classic pen and paper experience, yet is built for the digital age. Although it feels like a traditional notebook, the Core is endlessly reusable. When you write using any pen from the Pilot Frixion line, your writing sticks to Core pages like regular paper. However, add a drop of water and the notebook erases like magic, allowing you to use the pages thousands of times.
The ethics of the Rocketbook Core lie in its longevity and waste reduction. As a certified B Corp, Rocketbook has met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance. By encouraging a 'buy it once' mentality, they challenge the disposable nature of the stationery industry. The pages are made of a proprietary synthetic polyester blend that is durable enough to withstand years of wiping and rewriting without degrading.
The Smart Integration System
| Feature | Functionality |
|---|---|
| Cloud Connection | Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Slack |
| OCR Technology | Transcribes handwritten notes to text |
| Image Processing | Automatic cropping and color enhancement |
Beyond the physical materials, the Rocketbook app facilitates a paperless lifestyle. The bottom of each page features seven small symbols (the 'buttons'). You can assign these symbols to specific folders in your favorite cloud services. When you scan a page with the Rocketbook app, it automatically routes your notes to the correct destination. This effectively bridge the gap between analog thought and digital storage.
"Our goal was to eliminate the waste of the notebook industry while enhancing the utility of the written word through technology." — Joe Lemay, CEO
- Reduces the carbon footprint associated with paper manufacturing and transport.
- Proprietary synthetic pages are designed for long-term circular use.
- B Corp status ensures ethical corporate governance and transparency.
From a labor perspective, Rocketbook maintains a transparent supply chain and has worked to optimize their packaging to be as minimalist as possible, avoiding unnecessary plastics. While the pages are synthetic, the environmental payoff comes from the displacement of thousands of sheets of standard paper over the product's lifespan. It is the ultimate tool for the 'zero-waste' professional.
