Recycled Ocean-Bound Plastic

What it is
Almost all 'ocean plastic' products use ocean-bound plastic — waste collected within roughly 50 km of a coastline in areas with weak waste management — rather than material actually retrieved from the sea.
Why it matters
Intercepting waste before it enters the ocean is genuinely useful and funds collection livelihoods. But the claim is easy to inflate, and the resulting product is still plastic that sheds microfibres and eventually needs disposal.
